We Were Here shows what it is like to feel lonely when you enter a new place. Miguel was sent in to Juvenile Hall and then to a group home. When he entered the group home, most of the people there already knew eachother. When he went there, he was all alone. He knew not one person. He would spend his days writing in his notebook and reading different books. A boy named Mong did not like Miguel when he first got there. Everyone there knew not to mess with Mong but Miguel did not really care. Miguel picked a fight with Mong and that was not a smart thing to do. Miguel was all alone in the group home. No one really cared to get to know him. He would eat outside near no one. People started to think he loved reading because thats all he would do at the group home. Since he knew no one, he thought he could pass time by reading books. He felt alone when he walked in to the group home.

3rd Independent Reading Book:Write a letter to the author or to the main character or to someone you know who should read your book.

I couldn't believe that you were actually able to escape from the group home with Monk and Rondell. Your plan sounded very thought out and like you knew what you were doing. It was probably hard to have to hide from the cops. I can understand why you wanted to get away from the group home. You had a bad time there and you knew that you didn't deserve to be there. It sounded like you needed to keep writing in your notebook. The judge gave it to you so you can be able to express your feelings without having to say them. It was better for you to keep writing in it. The notebook helped you feel a lot better. You haven't seen your father since you were little and you felt like you had to see him and you probably thought you would have a better life with him. I thought you made the right choice in the end.
Sincerely,
Bryan Solis

Why don't you want live with your father and take care of him? He is an old man and is at his last few years of life. He be living alone right. You could take your wife, Francoise to live with you and your father or you could bring him to live with you. You can't blame him for burning all of the diaries that your mother kept. They could have brought back a lot of happy memories that made him sad. I think that you she bring him to live with because like he feels the regret of burning the diaries, you will regret not bringing him to live with you and taking care of him.
Sincerely,
Bryan Solis

Connecting to the Main Character
The main character of the story has many different attributes. I think that I can relate to some of his attributes. Jeff feels that he can protect his loved ones but his girlfriend's dad does not believe him. I also think that i can protect my loved ones. Jeff can also be stubborn at times in the book. Jeff just can not understand that his girlfriend's dad does not want him to talk to her. Jeff is also someone who can get jeleous. He thinks now that Franchise Fraser is single, he will want to try to become Beth's boyfriend. These are some attributes that Jeff will try to fix.Next Book
The next book i am going to read is Dark Angel by David Klass. It is about a boy named Jeff whose life was great until his brother came back. His brother Troy was being released from jail and he is going to live with them. He was arrested for murdering a boy when he was young. He had to tell his girlfriend about Troy and now that he did, she can not talk to him because her dad doesnt want her to. Now that Franchise Frasier is single, he is afraid that she will become his girlfriend. I picked this book because i had to read a book and i read the first couple of pages and it seemed interesting so now i am reading this for my second independent reading book of the semester.Sunday, December 5, 2010
Prediction to Breathing Underwater
I am half way through reading Breathing Underwater by Alex Flinn. So far a boy named Nick had a good life until he got in trouble for hitting his girlfriend. Now no one wants to be his friend. he is being forced to go to Anger Management classes and to write in a notebook. I left off reading when nick was about to get in a fight with Leo because Leo stood up for him and Nick didn't like that but Mario, the class teacher, told them to take it outside. I don't think Nick or Leo will do anything.Everything will just calm down they will go back to the class. This a great book to read.

Next Semester....
This semester I read Mexican WhiteBoy, Down, and Breathing Underwater. They were all really good books. Mexican WhiteBoy was about a boy named Danny who liked to play baseball but he didn't have control on the ball. Down was about a boy named Remy who was released from jail and faced more problems at home. Breathing Underwater was about a boy named Nick who hit his girlfriend and now has to spend time in an anger management class. Next semester I would like to read more mystery books. I just like finding out who was killed or how he was killed. There is just a lot of suspense in those types of books. Some books that have interested me are The Body of Christopher Creed, I Will Save You by Matt De La Pena, and Lockdown:Escape from Furnace by Alexander Gordon Smith. I hope to read those books next semester.
Mexican WhiteBoy and The Second Stringer
My book Mexican WhiteBoy can relate to the book The Second Stringer because they both are about boys that want to play the sport that they love but no one believes in them. Danny from Mexican WhiteBoy likes to play baseball but he can not control the ball. No one thinks he can do good until Uno believes in him. Kevin from The Second Stringer likes to play football but he wasnt that good. No one thought he could lead the team to the championship. The coach gives him some good advice and it was a miracle. Mexican WhiteBoy and The Second Stringer can relate in a few ways.

Independent Reading Book Down
The book Down by Norah McClintock was a really good book. I liked many things about the book. One thing I liked the most was that Remy wouldnt try to get in the way of Asia loving Marcus. Remy still loved her a lot but he did not want to take her away from Marcus and hurt her. Down is about a boy named Remy. He was just released fom camp. He runs in to his ex girlfriend and he notices that she is still cute as always. Her new boyfriend is a guy that his friends do not like. They get in to a brawl at the end to settle it all. This is a great book to read.
